Jacqueline Desautels

Pre-Licensed Professional/Practicum Student

Jacqueline Desautels was born and raised in Alberta and has called British Columbia home for the past 17 years. She has nearly two decades of experience working in the social services field, supporting individuals and families as they navigate a wide range of challenges and life transitions.

Jacqueline practices from a client-centred perspective and is deeply committed to supporting clients in their recovery and in building resilience throughout their personal journeys. She believes that everyone possesses inherent strengths and the capacity to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. Jacqueline values the unique voice, experiences, culture, and perspectives each person brings to therapy, and she strives to work collaboratively with clients to help them develop and expand their own individualized toolkit of skills.

Currently a student at Yorkville University, Jacqueline is enrolled in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program. She approaches her work through a holistic lens, considering biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors when understanding presenting concerns. Drawing from humanistic, cognitive-behavioural, and psychodynamic modalities, Jacqueline tailors her therapeutic approach to meet each client’s needs. She firmly believes that therapy should be guided by the client’s goals, ensuring that interventions and modalities align with what is most helpful for them.

To support mental wellness, Jacqueline integrates evidence-based practices, including cognitive and behavioural interventions, strengths- and solution-focused approaches, mindfulness techniques, and collaboratively developed, individualized strategies. Her priority is always to provide care that is responsive, respectful, and centered on the client.

Outside of her professional life, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, and exploring the outdoors with her dog.
