Amber Brown

Pre-Licensed Professional/Practicum Student

Amber is a practicum student currently completing their Master of Counselling Psychology degree at Yorkville University and holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Douglas College. For the past four years, Amber has worked as a social worker with Indigenous child and family agencies, walking alongside families during difficult chapters of their lives. This experience has reinforced the importance of respect, connection, and trust when working with clients facing numerous intergenerational, systemic, and contextual challenges.

Amber offers warm, compassionate care in her approach, striving to empower others to be their own healers on their wellness journey. Amber is knowledgeable about trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices and is dedicated to creating a collaborative space where clients can feel safe and seen. She believes in the power of re-authoring our life stories and often incorporates narrative therapy principles into her clinical work. Amber tailor’s therapeutic interventions to support her client’s goals by blending psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, and existential modalities to meet clients where they are at and support where they envision being. As a Métis woman, Amber draws from a holistic framework that centers on Medicine Wheel teachings of wellness balancing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects to help guide clients to live meaningful and authentic lives.

When she is not in the therapy room, Amber is playing ukulele, spending time in nature, and playing with her young children.
