Through her work in prevention social work, she recognized high need for mental health services for our younger generation. Her work with at-risk youth and individuals who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, mood disorders, and PTSD has taught her the value of a collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach. She is committed to meeting each person’s unique needs and understanding their circumstances.
She works with children aged 12 and older, young adults and adults. When working with youth, she takes collaborative approach of solution focused and strengths-based theory to empower youth to recognize their needs and to cultivate necessary skills to face everyday challenges. I understand how experiences of racism, oppression, and inequalities can create everyday challenges and affect an individual’s physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.
Sobia was born and raised in Pakistan and moved to Canada in 2011. In her free time, you can find her climbing, hiking, kayaking, camping or somewhere in the mountains. She would love to bring her love for the great outdoors into therapy and go out for walks or easy hikes if that suits client’s needs.
Having lived through mental health struggles, autoimmune disease, and chronic pain, she deeply understands the barriers and limitations that can make seeking help feel daunting. She uses a gentle, trauma-informed approaches in her counselling to remove barriers and ensure her services are accessible for all.
