Carmen Ranta

Pre-Licensed Professional/Practicum Student

Carmen is a practicum student completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. She brings many years of experience in education, the arts, and community leadership, supporting individuals and organizations through challenges and transitions. Her background includes a Bachelor of Arts and training in conflict resolution, leadership, community development, and advocacy. She lives in the BC Interior and values being part of a close-knit and diverse community. She believes healing begins in a space where people feel truly seen, heard, and respected.

Carmen’s approach is relational, person-centred, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect for each person’s unique story. She draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed skills, Emotion-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed practices. She supports youth, adults, and seniors/Elders navigating anxiety, depression, stress, grief, life transitions, and trauma-related concerns. She brings a caring, grounded presence to her sessions, offering space for both reflection and meaningful change.

She works collaboratively with clients to build insight, strengthen coping skills, and nurture self-compassion. Carmen is attentive to both emotional and physical experiences, supporting clients in gently developing awareness and moving toward greater balance and well-being at a pace that feels right for them.

Carmen welcomes the role of culture, spirituality, identity, and personal values when meaningful to the client, and is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space.

Outside of counselling, Carmen loves being outdoors, including gardening, swimming, enjoying music, and spending time with her husband, grown children, and young grandchild.
