Jesse Mclellan
Pre-Licensed Professional/Practicum Student
Jesse is a Master of Counselling student at Athabasca University and a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) with ACCT. She has completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing (SE) trauma training program, and is passionate about the power of attunement, somatic awareness, and embodiment in trauma recovery, grief work, and personal transformation. She also draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), parts work (IFS), mindfulness, and her background as a yoga teacher to support clients in slowing down, connecting inward, and moving toward a greater sense of safety, choice, and self-trust.
Prior to pursuing her master’s degree, Jesse worked in trauma and gender-based violence counselling with Stopping the Violence, as well as in crisis intervention with the Canadian Mental Health Association. She is moved by the courage of cycle-breakers working to heal from inherited, intergenerational, and systemic harms, and the lingering impacts of growing up without enough safety, support, or space to fully be oneself.
Jesse’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in nervous system science and authentic human connection. She strives to create a space where the pressure is off, and where patterns can be explored with curiosity rather than judgement. She believes sensitivity is a source of wisdom, depth, and strength, and is guided by a reverence for each person’s unique pace, inner wisdom, and capacity for resilience and meaningful change.
Jesse’s life is filled with a love of dancing, remote off-grid living, freshwater dips, the mystery of life, and her lifelong devotion to learning, healing, and transformation.
