Iryna Walker
Pre-Licensed Professional/ Practicum Student
Hi, I’m Iryna. I’m a counselling psychology student currently practicing under the supervision of Cristela D’Elia at Living Bridges Therapy Collective. I’m in the final stages of completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and I’m on the path to becoming a licensed counsellor.
My journey into counselling began long before I started formal training. I spent the early part of my career in education, but even then, I knew I was more drawn to understanding people than simply teaching them. After three years as an ESL teacher at Kyiv International University, I followed my long-standing fascination with British culture and spent a year and a half living, working, and exploring across England and Scotland. That spirit of curiosity took me even further — I’ve now visited over twenty countries, but it was Canada that truly captured my heart. It’s been my home for the past seventeen years.
These experiences — immersing in different cultures and meeting people from all walks of life — have profoundly influenced how I see the world. They’ve taught me that there are so many different ways to live, grow, struggle, and heal. I bring this multicultural lens and a deep empathy for human experience into my work, creating space for you to feel heard, accepted and supported.
When it comes to therapy, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. My style is collaborative and integrative, drawing from a range of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, psychodynamic principles, and more. I tailor each session to fit your unique needs and goals, always with the aim of helping you move toward meaningful growth and positive change. I work with individuals navigating a variety of challenges — anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), addiction, stress, life transitions and relationship difficulties, to name a few. My goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, insight, and encouragement.
Outside of work, I’m a wife and mom of three. Life at home is full — there’s family, pets, staying active, and plenty of joy (and chaos). These personal experiences give me a deep appreciation for the ups and downs of everyday life, and they inform the warmth and understanding I bring into my counselling sessions.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation so we can get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit. Life can be overwhelming sometimes, but you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to help.
