Jennifer Zahn

Pre-Licensed Professional/Practicum Student

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Social Work and is currently completing her Master’s in Social Work with a specialization in Trauma-Informed Practice through the University of Calgary. With a career rooted in community mental health and acute care hospital settings, Jennifer brings a compassionate, grounded presence to her work with individuals navigating complex life experiences.

From a young age, Jennifer felt drawn to helping others. Her path began with aspirations of nursing, followed by studies in Education, before discovering that Social Work offered deeper, more meaningful connections with those seeking support. This led to a lifelong commitment to supporting others through challenges, trauma, and personal growth.

Jennifer’s approach is grounded in:

  • Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Client-Centered and Strengths-Based Perspectives
  • Anti-Oppressive Practice
  • Narrative Therapy and Systems Theory

She believes that healing happens in safe, trusting relationships where people feel heard, empowered, and respected. Jennifer works collaboratively with each person, recognizing them as the expert in their own story. Her aim is to support clients in uncovering their resilience, reconnecting with their strengths, and moving forward with confidence.

Having experienced personal loss, Jennifer holds a deep interest in grief, loss, and end-of-life care. She understands the complexities of grief and feels honored to walk alongside individuals and families during some of life’s most tender and difficult moments.

“I believe we can always heal, grow, and learn—even from the most painful experiences. Healing may be uncomfortable and slow, but the growth that happens along the way is powerful. It all begins with awareness.”

Outside of her professional life, Jennifer is passionate about self-care, personal development, and maintaining balance. She finds joy in simple moments—reading a good book, listening to a podcast, evening walks, or enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. She especially cherishes time spent with her husband and two boys on their family farm.
